Background of the Study
Personalized learning is an educational approach that tailors the learning process to individual students’ needs, preferences, and learning styles. In nursing education, this approach is gaining attention due to its potential to enhance student engagement and motivation (Okoro et al., 2023). Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital is a prominent institution where nursing students undergo rigorous academic training and clinical practice. However, there is a growing concern about student motivation, as nursing programs often involve heavy workloads and complex subjects that may impact students' enthusiasm and commitment to their studies. Personalized learning, which includes adaptive learning technologies, customized learning materials, and one-on-one mentoring, has the potential to address these challenges by catering to individual learning styles and promoting intrinsic motivation (Akinmoladun & Oyedepo, 2024). This study aims to explore the effect of personalized learning approaches on the academic motivation of nursing students at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital.

Statement of the Problem
Academic motivation is crucial for nursing students to succeed in both theoretical and clinical components of their education. However, many students at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital exhibit signs of low motivation, which can lead to poor academic performance, increased dropout rates, and reduced clinical competencies. Personalized learning approaches are underexplored in the context of nursing education in Nigeria, especially in terms of their effect on academic motivation. This study seeks to investigate whether implementing personalized learning strategies can improve motivation among nursing students at the institution.

Objectives of the Study

1. To examine the effect of personalized learning approaches on the academic motivation of nursing students at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital.

2. To assess the impact of personalized learning on students' engagement in theoretical and clinical nursing education.

3. To explore nursing students' perceptions of personalized learning approaches and their influence on academic success.

Research Questions

1. How do personalized learning approaches affect nursing students' academic motivation at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital?

2. What is the impact of personalized learning on students’ engagement in nursing education?

3. How do nursing students perceive personalized learning strategies in relation to their academic success?

Research Hypotheses

1. Personalized learning approaches do not significantly impact nursing students' academic motivation at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital.

2. Personalized learning approaches do not significantly enhance nursing students' engagement in theoretical and clinical learning.

3. Nursing students' perceptions of personalized learning approaches do not significantly influence their academic success.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on nursing students at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital who have participated in personalized learning interventions. Limitations include the potential difficulty in isolating the impact of personalized learning from other factors influencing academic motivation.
